We have specialists across all levels of our businesses and we pride ourselves on providing complete solutions that meet the exacting needs of our customers. We’re conveniently located for many of our customers and suppliers by excellent road, rail and sea transport infrastructure.
Our history
Roota Engineering
We’ve built a strong reputation over the last 50 years for our specialist precision engineering and problem solving capabilities. We design, manufacture and deliver highly complex and bespoke parts for the most demanding applications.
We work with challenging materials and exotic alloys such as A718 (Inconel), MP35N and K500 (Monel), as well as a wide range of high strength carbon steels. We offer prototypes and one-off bespoke parts and have the capacity to deliver higher volume batch work.
Martract
Established in 1979, we manufacture ball valve components and refurbish balls that have failed during operation. Our grinding and finishing capabilities ensure the sphericity of each and every ball valve meets and exceeds the expectations of our customers. Our ball valves will seal in any position through the opening and closing process.
Our bespoke services can significantly increase the product life and performance of ball valve systems, reducing the heavy costs of downtime or ball replacement for our customers.

Shaun Newby
Managing Director
Shaun has over 20 years experience in the subsea Oil and Gas sector and has a wealth of knowledge about the sectors we operate in. He has a strong, in-depth understanding of the technically complex products we provide to OEMs around the world and he facilitates a working environment that enables our teams to thrive.
Jon Jackson
Account Manager, Roota Engineering
Jon has over 16 years experience working in precision engineering and manufacturing operations. He began his career as a CNC Machinist where he became a master of his trade. Jon’s background means he can translate complex technical requirements into the solutions our customers need.
Steve Andrew
Operations Manager, Martract
Steve has over 25 years experience working in production and engineering roles at Martract. Progressing to Operations Manager, he has an extensive understanding of the engineering solutions that our customers require. His positive can-do approach ensures we produce consistently outstanding quality products with a superior finish.
Jayne Burkin
Human Resources Manager, Pressure Technologies Group
Jayne is a CIPD qualified HR professional with over 20 years experience working with companies to provide strategic, people-focused policies across the employee life cycle. As part of Pressure Technologies’ management team, she leads our People Strategy and supports our businesses with their HR needs.
